The Fix is In!

Last night the Pittsburgh game had a very strange ending. In case you live under a rock, here is the video.

Some might say it was done to maintain the NFL's first ever 11-10 score. I say nonsense, Vegas did not want to take another pounding like they did last week in the Oakland-Carolina game when Janikowski tried a 59 yard field goal with seconds left to attempt to pull within 8.

That's two strange things, two weeks in a row. Of course it could be coincidental, but what fun would it be if I said that? It's rigged, I tell ya! It's just fun to say that.

Roll Tide!

Well, yesterday the Tide took care of business against Mississippi. I think they only did it because no matter what happens they are done for. If there was any way for them to get out of playing Florida in the SEC championship, I'm sure they would've taken advantage of that.

This is how I see everything panning out:

Oklahoma should beat Texas Tech at home. These kind of wins are expected for a program like Oklahoma. They will be favored in this game.

Florida WILL beat Alabama. Yes, Alabama is scrappy, a good story, and well coached. But when they play Florida, you know what else they will be? Out-gunned.

After this happens, the BCS will be in disarray worse than ever. We will have six one loss teams with about equal credentials: USC, Florida, Alabama, Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma. As much as I'd like to include Penn State I can't. They are in the Big Ten.

One of the teams is going to get bumped because of the Big 12 Championship. Well, you would like to think that, anyway. ALL THREE of the one-loss schools are from the Big 12 South.

For once, USC appears to be getting the short end of the stick. They are playing great ball, but almost undoubtedly will be left in the cold.

I think more emphasis should be placed on who is playing the best football in the country. That may sound simple, but think about it. Even though Florida has one loss, do you think Texas Tech and Alabama are better teams? If not, then move them down. USC deserves a chance as much as any other of the other five teams, but they are faced with an enormous obstacle: The media's raging hard-on for the SEC and Big 12.

So what is the solution? Well, if the scenario plays out how I think it will, then when it gets to BCS selection time, you might as well draw the names out of a hat.

What is my prediction? Florida vs. Oklahoma, leaving the hook 'em Horns crew in a frenzy. It's going to be a tough year for the BCS committee.

Lesnar Vs. Couture

I'm not a big UFC fan. I liked it when it first started. It was barbaric and awesome! A guy that could knock someone's head off but didn't have a clue what an arm bar was versus a guy that could snap your damn ankle, but didn't know the first thing about defending a punch. That way one of two things was gonna happen:

1. A devastating submission
2. A highlight-reel knockout

I know what's coming. You're not an MMA purist, you don't know what you are talking about. The thing is, I do, and I don't care. The athletes are impressive and the promotion is second to none. The actual product is trash. It's so WWE.

There's no chance for an unknown guy like Marco Ruas to emerge as the best fighter in the world in one night. UFC set the bar too high, too early for me.

My prediction for tomorrow? Brock Lesnar. Why? He has bigger muscles. I hope "The Natural" proves me wrong, but what is he, 50?

Alright, now I can finally get back to my Oscar De La Hoya CD.

Va. Tech vs. Miami

When I was at work today I was thinking about how badass of a game this is for a Thursday night ESPN game. You know, compared to the usual battle of two teams I've never seen play.

Well then I got home and realized that's it's not 2001 anymore. These have to be two of the most boring teams in college football. Virginia Tech has always been boring, but at least they were great and boring a few years ago. It's great to have a team that has potential to block punts, but it's not great when your team's best chance of scoring is via punt block.

If you haven't been watching the game I will break it down for you: Miami's quarterback has the speed of Darren McFadden and the agility of Reggie Bush. And he's white.

Oden is Back!

It has been announced that Greg Oden is going to play tonight. He has recovered from the foot injury in a timely manner.

I've already gone public with the bromance of Greg Oden and I. With that said, everyone should be pulling for Oden. He is an amazing talent and very engaging. Alright, I'll stop now.

P.S. Go Greg!
